Students are not required to participate in the recital, but of course, we like to have as many students involved as possible. As the recital date nears, we will begin teaching recital dances in the classes. Putting our knowledge and skills together as a dance is an important part of our dance training, so we urge students to continue with their classes, even if they choose not to participate in the recital. This will insure that next year they can enter the next level with their class.

Please check your vacation dates, family and school obligations when making the decision to participate; it is very difficult to rearrange dancers after places and choreography are finalized.

Declining Participation
Please fill out the permission slip, stating that you are declining participation, and submit the form to the dance studio office. This way we can be sure that your form is not simply lost.

Attendance Policy
Those in the recital MUST ATTEND dress rehearsal and must not miss the last two weeks of classes. Anyone missing these important times may not be allowed to dance on stage with his or her class.

Teachers will start measuring for costumes in October. We will order ready-made costumes from costume houses that specialize in making costumes for studios such as ours.

costumes will not be ordered until they are paid for in full.

Parents or guardians accept full responsibility for all expenses, including surcharges and postage for costumes that are ordered late. Pat Brown School of Dancing is not responsible if costumes are not received in time for the recital due to late payments.

Withdrawal  -- From a recital dance

A costume may be cancelled for a particular dance prior to Dec. 15.. The deposits paid to that date will be moved to other costume balances. .This policy is used for students that remain enrolled through the end of the year.

Withdrawal  -- From the studio

No costume refunds will be made if a parent or guardian withdraws a child from the school after December 15th. Costume deposits paid prior to that date may be refunded minus a $15 cancellation fee for each costume. If you drop out after this time a parent or guardian may pick up purchased costumes at the school up to 15 days after the performance. Costumes not picked up after 15 days will be donated to charity.

Costume measuring begins during the last week in November, during scheduled class times. Each child will be measured in order to determine his or her proper costume size (s). We do allow for growth.

Although rare, minor alterations are sometimes needed after the costumes have been distributed and are the sole responsibility of the studentís parent or guardian. Any major alterations will be made by the costume mistress hired by the studio and is a benefit included in your recital fee.

Costumes will be distributed when all outstanding balances for the season (including tuition) are paid in full. The deadline for all balances due is May 1st. To ensure that there are no costume problems, students should not wear their costumes, accessories, or tights prior to the photo session, dress rehearsal, or performance.
