Regular Dance Classes

Regular season classes start in mid-August and run through early June. There are approximately 33 to 34 lessons per season, and the number of lessons per month will vary based on holidays and school schedules.

Dance with Me

Classes are led by an instructor for 18-35 months babies with an adult. They will learn to move together for fun. Dance and play while building the baby’s body and brain. Sing, say, and move to nursery rhymes and a wide variety of music. Activities are taught that can be explored at home. It’s a time for learning in a playful environment.

Take Dance with Me so you can relax, laugh, play, and just have fun with each other.

Primary Dance I, II, and III

For young children age 3 by June 1st (not yet in 1st grade), we offer three levels of preliminary work. These levels are designed to introduce the young child to many forms of movement while encouraging creative ability, musicality, and coordination. Includes an introduction to traditional ballet movement, tap, and acrobatics. Level placement will be determined by the dance studio staff.

Ballet

Our ballet program is for 1st grade to adults. Consists of traditional barre and center exercise with correct posture and placement. Pointe work is added when the teacher so determines. The student’s training in ballet classes far outweighs the movements learned. It is beneficial to the mind, and self-discipline teaches logical and analytical thinking and is the basis for all forms of movement.

Pointe

A continuation of classical ballet where the dancer rises to her toes.  This requires teacher recommendation.

Jazz

Jazz dance represents the freedom and strength of today’s youth with movements both natural and technical. Jazz dance o has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. The movements taught are appropriate to the child’s age and ability.

Lyrical, Contemporary, and Modern

These dance styles combine ballet and jazz dancing techniques. It is performed to music with lyrics so that it inspires the expression of strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics of the song. This style concentrates on an individual approach and expressiveness of such emotions as love, joy, hurt, or anger. It does not concentrate on the dancer’s precision of movement.

Tap

Tap produces coordination and rhythmic timing while showing quick visible progress. Old world tap to upbeat music styles.

Hip-Hop

Dance to the latest popular street funk using conservative rap music. Gives the student a feel for the ever-popular street style of dance while keeping in line with family value systems. Hip-hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance.

Pat Brown School of Dancing believes you are never too old to dance. We can offer classes in tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, yoga, or ballet with enough interest. These classes are offered for fun and exercise.
